About:
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study and employment in the media sector.
It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification which is stimulating and demanding, and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.
The qualification is delivered over two years and will enable students to develop a portfolio of work that supports progression into a range of higher education courses and careers within the media industry.
Careers and Industry Connections:
Students have access to live briefs through the Enterprise, Projects, Partnerships and Productions department and experience live shoots, as well as making content for the school productions. Students have; had a workshop with a BBC documentary camera operator, been on trips to Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, MediaCom in London and on a Media/film focused trip to New York. Students have also sat Professional Practice Interviews with Bananasplit Productions from Elstree Studios. Studying this course would set students up for Media and Film courses at University/Film schools or apprenticeships in the industry. Alumni students have left the Media course and gone on to study Media/Film courses at UAL, Falmouth, Animation at Pearson in London, University of Hertfordshire, Bournemouth and Westminster
Assessment:
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology comprises of 16 units taken over two years (8 units are completed in each year). Within the first year students will undertake the following units:
Unit 1: Introduction to media processes and technical skills
Unit 2: Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production
Unit 3: Introduction to professional practice in creative media production
Unit 4: Critical and contextual awareness
Unit 5: Investigating audio production and technology
Unit 6: Investigating visual production and technology
Unit 7: Investigating interactive media production and technology
Unit 8: Developing media production and technology
Within the second year students will undertake the following units:
Unit 9 Characteristics and contexts in media and communication
Unit 10 Engaging with an audience in creative media production
Unit 11 Preparing for progression in creative media production
Unit 12 Specialist study in creative media production
Unit 13 Extended project in creative media production (Level 3)
Unit 14 Extended project in creative media production (Level 4)
