ESA’s Post 16 Results 2025
ESA has had a remarkable year. The school was inspected by Ofsted and judged to be outstanding in all categories in February 2025 and now, 6 months later, the creative arts college sees some of its best results ever!
100% of students achieved a qualification graded A* to C (or equivalent) - Up again compared to last year.
Over 90% of students achieved a qualification graded A* to B (or equivalent) - our highest number ever achieving A* to B
63% of students achieved a qualification graded A* to A (or equivalent) - Also our highest number ever achieving the top grades available.
Congratulations to all our trainees and students on their excellent achievements, some of the best outcomes ESA has seen yet! As the creative academy specialising in the trades, crafts and technical disciplines for the cultural industries, ESA is particularly delighted by the simply amazing outcomes achieved by students in Film and Media Production, where 100% of students met or exceeded their target grades with 65% of students achieving Distinctions. In Sound Technology and Music Performance and Production, students also achieved at the highest levels with 100% meeting or exceeding their target grades and 75% of learners achieving Distinction or Distinction*. Production Arts also saw their best results ever with 77% of students achieving the top grades.
As an inclusive creative school, we are also keen to celebrate the achievements of our students with Special Education Needs or Disabilities [SEND] who performed in line with all other students (100% achieving A* to C or equivalent).
ESA ScreenCraft is our creative industry training programme for young adults and school leavers, created in partnership with ScreenSkills to provide a UK centre of Screen Excellence. Both the ScreenSkills accredited trainees and our Level 4 diploma students had another excellent year. 53 students completed the traineeship with employer partners including BBC, ITV, Banijay UK, Fremantle and Love Productions on films and shows including ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘The Caged’. 100% of trainees passed and 67% achieved the level 4 diploma with Distinction* to Merit grades.
ESA is on a mission to increase opportunities for underserved students so we are delighted that 100% of students from disadvantaged backgrounds achieved A* to C grades (or equivalent) and 75% achieved the top grades (A grades or distinctions). 100% of disadvantaged students met their target grades, with 88% exceeding their target outcomes! Just brilliant.
“Truly a landmark outstanding year for ESA. Not only did Ofsted judge the school to be outstanding across the board but, much more importantly, our students have also achieved outstanding results and performed beyond our high expectations. We love them and are proud as can be. What a year!”
Students are moving on to a range of employment and specialist courses to continue their creative industry training including nationally renowned destinations (University Arts London [UAL], Bournemouth University, Goldsmiths University, Leeds University, Manchester University and Falmouth University). Some students are also moving onto performing arts schools and prestigious conservatoires including, Guildhall, Italia Conti, Royal Central and AMDA New York. Our industry focus also means that students are taking up work placed programmes including traineeships and internships including with our partners at Sky Studios, ESA ScreenCraft (ScreenSkills UK Centre of Screen Excellence) and Escape Studios.
Most importantly, ESA prides itself on being a creative institution that cares most about the type of person our young people become, not just what grade they get. Commitment, compassion and creativity matter so much more than merely passing an exam, so we are overjoyed that 82% of students achieved beyond their target grade [up again from last year]!
Congratulations to all ESA graduates.
